GTA V Racing - Glowing Motorcycles

I'd bet somewhere along this race course, there's a person looking in disbelief as these other-worldly looking motorcycles speed past, then pouring out the rest of their bottle of wine.

GTA V Racing - Grove Street Tractor Stampede

Imagine living in the 'hood and seeing a bunch of farm tractors racing down your street.

It's a wonder the Families and the Ballas didn't start shooting.

GTA V Racing - Galileo Observatory Bicycle Race

A good, old-fashioned bicycle race.

This race takes place on the roads near the Galileo Observatory, and is run on bicycles. No handling or horsepower advantages here, just muscle, stamina and skill.

GTA V Racing - Box Truck Tour De State with traffic

This race is similar to the previous, except slower.

This race takes place over the same route as the previous Tour De State race, but the competitors are all box trucks. Additionally, now we have to maneuver our way around traffic.

GTA V Racing - Tour De State

A long-distance race spanning almost the entire perimeter of the map.

This race starts on the 15 (Palomino Freeway) in the Palomino Highlands, passes by Grapeseed and continues through Paleto Bay and Chumash on the 1, splits off onto the La Puerta Freeway, then re-joins the 15 back to where the race started.

It's a tour of the State of San Andreas, hence the name Tour De State.

And it's done in classic sports cars.

GTA V Racing - Grapeseed ATV Race

A common sight in farming communities, brought to GTA V. In this video, we raced a bunch of 4-wheelers on the farm roads in Grapeseed.

GTA V Racing - Sandy Shores Golf Cart Race

Another golf cart race, this time going through downtown Sandy Shores.

GTA V Racing - Antique Tractor Racing in Grapeseed

You know that antique tractor in GTA V that has steel wheels? We raced a few of them through the farm roads in Grapeseed. I can practically hear it now: "Those dang rednecks will race anything!"

GTA V Racing - Senora Desert Golf Cart Rally

In this video, we race golf carts around Joshua Rd and the dirt road by the railroad tracks.

Reminds me of racing around my yard on golf carts and 4-wheelers with my friends when we were a bit younger. More on that in a future post.

GTA V Racing - Vinewood Dirt Track

In this video, we race around the Vinewood horse track in Declasse Hotring Sabres. If the cars were older, it could pass for a recreation of NASCAR's early days.

GTA V Racing - Sandy Shores Airfield Stock Car Series

In this video, we race Declasse Hotring Sabres around the Sandy Shores Airfield.

GTA V Racing - Banham Canyon Race

In this video, we race classic sports cars in the Banham Canyon, Tongva Valley, and Chumash areas of San Andreas.

GTA IV Racing - Testing And Tuning

In these videos, we tweak the handling lines of various vehicles, then test them on a half-mile stretch of Columbus Avenue, to see what effect the tuning had.

GTA IV Racing - 18 Ruiners 30 Laps

In this video, we race 18 Imponte Ruiners around the airport road for 30 laps.

At the start of the race, we pulled over and gave the entire field a 3 lap head-start. By the 24th lap, we had caught back up and taken the lead. Of course, by that time, most of our competition had wrecked their cars. By the final lap, there was only one opponent still running.

GTA IV Racing - Half-mile Drags

In this video, we drag race several cars on a half-mile stretch of Columbus Avenue.

GTA IV Racing - Columbus Avenue Night Drags

In this video, we drag race several cars on a quarter-mile stretch of Columbus Avenue in Algonquin.

Saturday, October 27, 2018

GTA IV Racing - Topaz Street Drag Racing

In this video, we drag race several cars from the LCPD substation at the east end of Topaz Street in Algonquin, to Rand Avenue in Alderney.

According to the game's distance counter, our dragstrip is 0.6 miles long, over twice the length of a normal quarter-mile dragstrip.

GTA IV Racing - FIA Taxi Race

In this video, we race 18 Vapid Stanier taxis around the airport road in GTA IV for 30 laps.

Or that was the plan, anyway.

We gave the entire field a 1-lap head start, and by the 13th lap, we had caught up and took the lead.

To illustrate how poorly the AI drivers drive, by lap 26 all of our opponents had wrecked their cars. Then two laps later we wrecked our car, and in Ricky Bobby style (or Forrest Gump style?), finished the final three laps on foot.

GTA IV Racing - 18 Comets 18 Laps

In these two videos, we race 18 Comets around the airport road in GTA IV.

This is done by use of a script modification. For the time being, 17 AI cars is the maximum that can be part of the race, and all cars involved in the race are the same model. This is a limitation of the script.

The first video is the race without AI traffic.

The second video is a race with AI traffic that the racers have to maneuver around.

GTA V LSPDFR - Episode 4 - No Headlights

In this episode, we encounter several drivers who are driving with their headlights off.

For reasons still unknown to me, my microphone volume was very low during the recording of this video.

GTA V LSPDFR - Episode 3 - Multiple Pursuits

In this episode, we get involved in several pursuits in the city of Los Santos.

GTA V LSPDFR - Episode 2 - Unarrestable

In this episode, we encounter a suspect in Paleto Bay whom we are quite literally unable to arrest.

GTA V LSPDFR - Episode 1 - Driven Over!

Our first on-camera patrol in LSPDFR for GTA 5.

The first thing I noticed was that there were a multitude of functions in LCPDFR, that were missing in LSPDFR, and I had to download a series of mods to regain some of that functionality. I should've taken some time off-camera to really learn all of the controls, but I didn't.

To start the series, we were working for the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department, which also operates in Blaine County because Blaine doesn't have any law enforcement agencies of its own. We chose the Vapid Stanier for our patrol car, because the other choice was a Declasse Granger, the in-game equivalent of a Chevy Suburban 3500HD.

GTA V Shenanigans: Code 3 Runs

In the first clip, we drove Code 3 through Sandy Shores in a LSPD Buffalo.

In the second clip, we were in Paleto Bay when we received an all-hands-on-deck call for a situation at the 24/7 store in Sandy Shores. It's not readily apparent from the video, but we topped 160 MPH during this run. We arrived on scene to find a large amount of emergency vehicles surrounding the store.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 17 - Drunk In Public

In this extended-length episode, we patrol the highways of Liberty City.

As we were doing our intro, we observed an intoxicated subject stumbling about on the roadway across Topaz Street from the police station. We arrested the lady for public intoxication.

(Mister White, you are being arrested for Drunk In Public...)

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 16 - Rainy Day Patrol In Alderney

In this episode, we patrol around Alderney during a rainy day.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 15 - Acter Industrial Park Patrol

In this episode, we patrol around Acter Industrial Park in a large, heavy, slow SUV.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 14 - New Officers And Uniforms

In this episode, we patrol in Algonquin with new officers wearing spiffy new uniforms.

We're still using our classic Marbelle with the Andy Griffith license plate. I personally like this car. But then again, I prefer classic cars over modern ones in real life, which gets carried over to my in-game preferences.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 13 - Prostitution Arrests

In this episode, we arrest several prostitutes and Johns on Dukes Drive in Steinway.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 12 - Leftwood Patrol

In this episode, we patrol in the Leftwood and Westdyke areas in Northern Alderney.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 11 - Alderney City Patrol

In this episode, we found a lot of people to stop in the Alderney City area.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 10 - Rough Restart

After not even playing the game at all for nearly 4 months, I returned to patrol in Bohan.

This episode was the first fresh episode I recorded after switching to a much better ISP. Because it had been so long since I played the game at all, I was certainly a bit rusty. But I was certainly not demotivated like I had previously been.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 9 - Star Junction Patrol

In this episode of LCPDFR, we patrol around the Star Junction area of Algonquin.

Right off the bat I have to say that when this episode was recorded (shortly after Episode 8), I was still feeling a little under the weather, but I was primarily demotivated. My very crappy internet service was being very difficult, and was only getting worse by the day.

To go slightly off-track, I was paying AT&T on the order of $50 per month for 3 Mbps/0.3 Mbps Down/Up. I was actually getting 2.1 down and 0.2 up, and it only got worse as time went on. Uploading 20 minute videos took about 3 to 4 hours, and would often fail because the connection timed out about 3 hours in. In fact, before I switched ISPs, even 7 minute videos were failing. Because of all that, I was seriously demotivated, and thought about giving up on the channel altogether.

I saw an ad on local TV for a cable internet provider, and they were running a special offer: 100Mbps/3Mbps Down/Up, for the same price I had been paying AT&T. When I got that set up and working, I uploaded this video - nearly 4 months after it was recorded.

GTA V Shenanigans: Chain Reaction

I'm sure most of us are familiar with what happens in GTA when a car explodes next to a group of other cars: all of the cars in the group eventually explode.

In this episode, we set up groups of cars, then blew all of them up.

GTA V Shenanigans: Weaponized Vehicles

In this episode of Shenanigans, we showcase a few of the weaponized vehicles in GTA V. Or rather, the weaponized vehicles in GTA Online, which I obtained in Single Player mode by use of a modification.

The vehicles showcased here include:

Heists DLC -- Karin Rebel Technical

Import/Export DLC -- Benefactor Turreted Limo, Brute Armored Boxville

Gunrunning DLC -- Vom Feuer Anti-Aircraft Trailer, HVY APC, BF Dune FAV,
Bravado Half-Track, HVY Insurgent Pickup Custom

GTA V Shenanigans: Highway Ramp

In these three videos, we placed ramps in the middle of the freeways, and watched AI drivers react.

In the first and second videos, we were on the 13 near Grapeseed, in the Northeast quadrant of the map

In the third video, we were on Great Ocean Highway on the West side of the map, between Chumash and Los Santos.

As described in a previous post, technical limitations meant that I had to split this into three videos.

GTA V Shenanigans: Mountain Climbing

In this episode of Shenanigans, we climb a mountain in a very unusual way.

We've heard fast cars, particularly late-60s muscle cars, called "rocket ships" due to their massive amounts of horsepower and equally brutal torque figures. But those cars didn't actually have rocket boosters.

Rockstar Games took a look at the Coil Voltic, which is an all-electric car that's pretty fast in it's own right, and they asked "what can we do better?"

Enter the Rocket Voltic, which is quite literally a rocket car. With the touch of a button, it can accelerate from a dead stop to over 130 MPH in about 1.5 seconds on flat land.

Equipped with this new vehicle, we decided to climb up a mountain. We succeeded in climbing the mountain, but we were carrying enough speed that we actually jumped over the top. I think our car's personalized license plate ("BLASTOFF") was accurate.

GTA V Shenanigans: Jumping Large Trucks.

"Big trucks flying through the air" would be a good description of this one.

In this episode of Shenanigans, we placed a ramp on the highway at the bottom of a long hill. You can guess the rest. Or just watch the video.

Trucks Hitting Bridges - GTA Edition

In this episode of Shenanigans, we attempt to recreate the Trucks Hitting Bridges videos in GTA V.

I've long been a fan of the 11 Foot 8 bridge videos in real life. I was messing around in GTA V one day when I found a trailer that wouldn't fit under the train bridge above Joshua Rd between Sandy Shores and Harmony.

It was then that I decided to make a video about it.

Neither I, nor this video, are endorsed by or connected to the real 11 Foot 8 bridge in any way.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 8 - Highway Speed Enforcement

In this episode of LCPDFR, we run speed radar out on Broker-Dukes Expressway.

After episode 7, I took a hiatus from gaming. My piss-poor DSL internet had been being very slow, and uploading even the 6 minute Deuce And A Half video was very difficult. I decided to take a few months to get some needed work done at my camp.

As I was recording this video, I was feeling under-the-weather, which is apparent from my voice. This was also one of those videos where the mic volume was too high, and overpowered the game sounds.

This video was actually inspired by the real-life Sheriff's deputies where I live, who would rather run radar on the 4-lane highway in town where hardly anyone speeds (except the deputies themselves), than in neighborhoods where speeding is a well-known issue.

GTA IV Shenanigans: LCPD vs M35 Deuce And A Half

In this video, which would become the first GTA Police Chases video, we led LCPD on a chase in a military truck.

This video was made possible by the GTA modding community, for making a mod that replaces an in-game vehicle with a M35A2 "Deuce And A Half" 6x6 military truck.

The M35 is a vehicle I would like to have in real life for various reasons, including the very skookum PTO-driven winch, its ability to ford very deep water, and the extreme off-road capabilities afforded by the six driven wheels.

In my area, law enforcement and the National Guard like to completely abandon flooded areas. If any residents of those areas don't evacuate, due to the fact that their house doesn't flood, it's up to us citizens to keep those residents safe and deliver needed supplies to them. Unfortunately, many times the low spots in the roadways get so deep that even our 4x4 pickups with 8 inch lift kits and 37 inch tires cannot cross. The National Guard vehicles can still cross, as can a Deuce.

But as stated above, the National Guard abandons the areas, and the only Deuce in this area is a wrecker truck.

Real-life government corruption aside, the Deuce's real-life mass and capabilities are lost in-game. In real life, a Deuce could never be pushed sideways by a W-body Impala, but in-game, the Declasse Merit and Vapid Stanier police cruisers are able to push the Deuce sideways into other objects.

I didn't want to edit out any of the content in the video, but my internet simply wouldn't allow the full-length video to upload. So I sped the video up, which actually made it somewhat more comical. I would've added in Yakety Sax (the Benny Hill theme), but I didn't want copyright issues.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 7 - Unmarked Patrol

In this episode, we patrol Algonquin in an unmarked car. We also find out what happens when you enter a GTA IV storyline mission marker while on-duty in LCPDFR.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 6 - Stormy Night

In this episode, we patrol Alderney at night during a thunderstorm.

General Shenanigans: BonziBuddy Meets Dr. Evil

In this video, we loaded up the infamous BonziBuddy, and had him quote one of the Austin Powers movies.

I didn't have internet access when I was young, because internet access didn't exist in rural areas yet. A relative who had internet access downloaded a "desktop assistant" program called BonziBuddy, and sent it to me via floppy disk (remember those?), which I thought was the neatest thing in the world.

Many years later, after the whole debacle about BonziBuddy being malware, I found that floppy disk, and decided to load it on an old computer that had a floppy drive. You know, for nostalgia.

("Play it once, Sam. For old time's sake.")

I remembered that BonziBuddy had a text-to-speech function, so I typed in Dr. Evil's famous quote about his childhood. I thought it was pretty cool, so I then recorded it on my phone.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 5 - No ID

In this episode, we encounter several people who seem to have forgotten their IDs at home.

GTA IV Shenanigans: High-speed Crashes

Another episode of Shenanigans

Prior to recording this episode, we installed a mod that turns the construction zone on Columbus Avenue into a finished roadway. We also drastically edited the handling file.

We then started GTA IV and proceeded to drive several vehicles at very high speeds, crashing them into buildings and other cars.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 4 - Bohan!

In this video, I attempt to patrol Bohan after operating a tractor and boxblade all day in real life.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 3 - Foggy Night In Leftwood

A foggy night patrol in Alderney, using a vanilla GTA car.

In this video, we decided to use a vanilla GTA car (Declasse Merit) with the hopes of alleviating the taxi bug from the two previous episodes.

We also edited the handling line, and made the car a front-wheel-drive car like the real-life W-body Impala that the Merit is based on. In doing so, I was reminded of why I really, REALLY, dislike wrong-wheel-drive cars in real life.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 2 - Drunk Pursuit

In this episode, we patrol in Algonquin, and pursue a drunk driver.

GTA IV LCPDFR - Episode 1 - Rough Start

Our first "real" LCPDFR patrol video, and we're off to a rough start. In this episode, we suffer a game crash, and our Crown Victoria's file size caused the infamous "Taxi Bug" where all traffic becomes taxis.

Prior to recording this video, I installed a cheap graphics card in my computer, which was a tremendous improvement over the Intel Integrated Graphics in both performance and appearance.

The old microphone I was using wasn't very loud, which is a problem that still hasn't been rectified.

GTA IV Unique Stunt Jumps

In this video series, we complete all 50 Unique Stunt Jumps in the game, broken down by area.

This series was supposed to be one video, but due to technical limitations described in an earlier post, it had to be broken down into several short videos.

In those early days, my computer hardware was very underpowered, and I had to use the Rockstar Editor to record anything. To further complicate things, if I tried to export videos that were more than ~6 minutes in length, my computer would actually crash.

Also, my internet connection was very slow and very unreliable, and longer videos would often fail to upload due to the connection timing out before the video was completely uploaded.

Airport Hot-Laps

An early GTA IV racing short video, recorded in-game with the Rockstar Editor.

In this video, we make a solo lap of the airport road, then one side of the runway, then the entire runway.

This was highly unscientific, being timed by a stopwatch app on my phone during the editing process.

Playboy X Gets Arrested

Another early LCPDFR short.

In this video, we were running stationary radar on Plumber's Skyway in Alderney, when we observed a blue Cavalcade driving Southbound at 68 MPH in a 30 zone, more than double the posted speed limit (see author's note in previous post). The speeding SUV turned onto the exit ramp that we were sitting at, very nearly hitting us head-on.

We turned around and gave chase, all the way down the very long exit ramp, across to a very long entrance ramp, and back onto the freeway Northbound.

After a considerable distance, we eventually caught up with and performed a traffic stop on the Cavalcade. We made contact with the driver, identified as Playboy X, and learned that he had two warrants for his arrest.

Playboy was cooperative with us, and was taken into custody without further incident.

He was charged with speeding 68/30, reckless operation, and whatever the two warrants were for.

Dimitri Rascalov Gets Arrested

Another early video featuring LCPDFR.

In this episode, we were running stationary radar on Broker-Dukes Expressway, when we observed a blue Contender traveling 58 MPH in a 30 zone.

(Author's note: I don't know why a freeway would have such a low speed limit, but the speed limit signs in the area read 30 MPH.)

We eventually caught up with the vehicle, and observed it crash into another vehicle that stopped for the traffic light. We performed a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Dimitri Rascalov.

Prior to arresting Dimitri, we performed a search of his person, and located a concealed handgun.

(Author's note: I'm a believer in 2nd Amendment rights, and am a Concealed Carry Permit holder. As I type this, I'm wearing a handgun on my person. However, with Liberty City being modeled after NYC, carrying a concealed weapon is illegal in-game. This is evidenced by some of the lines the cops say when finding a weapon on a person, and further evidenced by the lack of Ammu-Nation stores.)

We arrested Dimitri Rascalov for illegal carrying of a weapon, speeding 58/30, and careless operation with accident.

Ramping Trucks And Vans, Pt.3

Another continuation of the "GTA IV Shenanigans: Ramping Trucks And Vans" episode.

Ramping Trucks And Vans, parts 1, 2 and 3 were meant to be one video, but due to the technical limitations described in the previous post, it had to be split into three.

Ramping Trucks And Vans, Pt.2

A continuation of the "GTA IV Shenanigans: Ramping Trucks And Vans" episode.

I'm often asked why these early videos are so short in length, and the reason is twofold.

The first reason is that in these early days, I was using the Intel Integrated Graphics which uses a small amount of RAM and CPU power to act as a graphics card. This meant that I had to use the in-game Clip Capture and Rockstar Editor to create these videos. Due to the limited capacity of the graphics, exporting the videos from GTA IV took an extraordinarily long time, and long videos would actually crash the computer.

The second reason is that my internet connection at the time was very slow and unreliable, and long videos would take an extraordinarily long time to upload, often failing altogether because the connection would timeout before the video was fully uploaded.

LCPD vs Mikhail Faustin

Another early "R* Editor" video, making use of the LCPD First Response (LCPD:FR) modification.

In this video, we were running stationary radar on Broker-Dukes Expressway near the airport, when we observed a black Banshee with one headlight, top the hill at a high rate of speed and lose control.

We performed a traffic stop on the vehicle at the corner of Broker-Dukes Expwy and Dukes Drive/Hewes St, and made contact with the driver, identified as Mikhail Faustin.

We arrested Faustin for speeding, reckless operation, and broken headlight.

GTA IV Shenanigans: Ramping Trucks And Vans

In this episode of Shenanigans, we placed a ramp on the roadway, then jumped over that ramp with big trucks and vans.

GTA IV Shenanigans: Admiral Lights

This episode of Shenanigans is kind of silly. We spawned in a bunch of wall light props and attached them to our car via Simple Trainer, and drove through Middle Park.

GTA IV Shenanigans: Random Car/Bike Jumps

Another Rockstar Editor video, involving ramps on roadways and vehicles jumping over said ramps.

Sunday, October 7, 2018

GTA IV Shenanigans: Ramping Bikes on Columbus Avenue

Another early Shenanigans video, recorded in-game.

In this video, we placed a ramp at the construction site on Columbus Avenue in Algonquin, and proceeded to jump a few motorcycles over the ramp.

GTA IV Shenanigans: Ramping Cars on Topaz St

An early Shenanigans video, recorded in Clip Capture.

In this video, we placed a ramp on Topaz Street in Algonquin, and proceeded to jump a few cars over that ramp.

LCPD In Hot Pursuit

An early LCPDFR video, recorded in Rockstar Editor.

In this video, myself and a large amount of LCPD officers chase a fleeing car, which ends in a chain of vehicle explosions. This video was captured by the in-game clip capture feature, and was put together in the Rockstar Editor.

At that time, my computer hardware wasn't powerful enough to play the game and record at the same time, so I had to use the in-game clip capture.

My video editing skills were very low at the time, as well.

GTA IV Shenanigans: Handling Line

The first video in the GTA Shenanigans series, recorded on a cell phone.

I had edited the handling line in an attempt to make this pickup truck handle better for pursuit use. Apparently I changed one of the settings a little too much.

Kitten vs DVD Player

My cat, then just a kitten, playing with the disc tray on my DVD player.

Another video

These are two early videos I made for YouTube, of my cat chasing pecans and playing with the disc tray of my DVD player.

Introduction

Hello folks, YardDart63 here. Welcome to my new blog!

This is my first time attempting to blog, so please bear with me.

If you've been following my Dailymotion channel (and YouTube channel prior to joining Dailymotion), you know who I am and what I do.

If you're new to my channel, my handle is YardDart63, sometimes shortened to YardDart for brevity, and I make videos and upload them to Dailymotion. Same concept as a "YouTuber" but on a different website.

In the past, I made Youtube videos about cars, animals, and shooting inanimate objects with a .44 Magnum revolver. I'm not going to go into detail about it in this post, but after a wrongful termination by Google, I took a hiatus from making videos. A few years later I found out about, and joined, another video sharing website called Dailymotion.

Since joining Dailymotion, I've made a few videos about my animals, my vehicles, and firearms. These days, however, my content is mainly centered around Grand Theft Auto IV and V, and the popular modifications LCPDFR and LSPDFR, respectively.

I am by no means a popular video creator, but I partly chalk that up to the fact that Dailymotion isn't nearly as well-known, popular, and ubiquitous as YouTube.

For reasons known only to Dailymotion, the comments feature is disabled site-wide for users based in the USA. If someone leaves a comment on one of my videos, I will never see it.

I had previously set up Facebook and Google+ pages to serve as a makeshift comments section, but that hasn't worked out very well.

I'm hoping that this blog will encourage viewers to communicate with me, and leave feedback and suggestions, so that I can make better videos in the future.
